An Open Letter to Members of the Los Angeles Chapter

As chair of the IFMA board of directors I have enjoyed the privilege of serving this Association and helping steer the course we have envisioned within our vision and mission statements.  Obviously, and without question, I, as one of many volunteer leaders, would not have enjoyed the success nor have been witness to the progress we have made in such a short time from the economic crisis of two years ago without the support, mutual respect, and friendship of my fellow Los Angeles Chapter members.

For those of you who have accepted the mantle of volunteer leadership service to the Chapter, thank you.  Your service, your many hours dedicated to the operations and success of the chapter, and your commitment to excellence in advancing the profession in this member-centric organization, shines throughout the facilities management and built environment community.  It has been your passion, your dedication, and your enthusiasm, that makes the difference on a daily basis, and which has motivated me to do my best in honoring of my roots, the Los Angeles Chapter.

For those of you who have considered serving, but have been hindered by the various demands that are placed in front of us on an almost daily basis, I encourage you to find the time - - - because we can really use your help, your skills, your experience, and most importantly, your support during demanding times.  So contact your chapter leaders and speak up – you will soon find that it is worth your time and efforts, and you will receive much, much more than you put into this wonderful Association.

Without your support, your friendship and the mutual respect we have built over the years, I would not have been able to serve in the capacity I had been elected to do.  So with all my heart and my passion for this profession, I would like to thank each and every one of you.  You have enriched my experience as a member and volunteer leader – but mostly, you have enriched my life and have made me a better person.  I will always cherish my experiences with IFMA, and I am appreciative of the opportunity of being a member of a great chapter.  And don’t worry, I do not have any plans of disappearing – I look forward to continuing in our mutual dedication to the profession and to the friendships we have developed.

Respectfully,
Francis J. Kuhn, CFM, CFMJ
Past Chair, IFMA Board of Directors
